Community Engagement Volunteer
Successfully screened applicants will be invited a virtual meeting prior to the 7th March for a friendly conversation. Attendance is mandatory.
This role is suitable for 16+.
Training for this role will take place on the 7th March 17:30-19:00 within Bury Town Centre.
About the Role
Our Community Volunteers are essential to bringing Community Medics to life across Greater Manchester. They are the friendly, positive faces who help us reach more people, deliver meaningful community engagement, and support the day-to-day work that keeps our services running.
You might be helping with CPR demonstrations, assisting at public events, chatting with members of the community, supporting logistics, or lending a hand with equipment and vehicle preparation. Every task, big or small, contributes to safer, healthier communities.
No experience is needed. We provide full training, including how to support our CPR activities safely. All we ask for is enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to get involved.

Key Responsibilities
You don’t have to take part in all of these activities, they are simply examples of the types of tasks you can get involved in as part of the Community Medics team.
Community Engagement & Public Support
- Support Community Medics at events, community days, and awareness sessions.
- Assist with CPR demonstrations, helping the public learn vital lifesaving skills.
- Engage with members of the public in a friendly, supportive manner.
- Promote key messages around first aid, health awareness, safety and wellbeing.
Event Support & Logistics
- Help set up, run, and pack down activities at events and training days.
- Assist with basic equipment checks, cleaning, or preparation under guidance.
- Support the movement or organisation of equipment, resources, or supplies.
- Provide general hands-on support to ensure smooth delivery of community activities.
Fundraising & Promotion
- Assist with fundraising activities, raffles, donation points, and local outreach.
- Represent Community Medics positively within the community and at events.
- Help raise awareness of our volunteer opportunities and youth programmes.
Teamwork & Safety
- Work closely with Community Medics staff and volunteers to create safe, inclusive environments.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and risk assessment guidance.
- Communicate promptly regarding availability, needs, concerns, or incidents.
- Act in line with Community Medics’ values and community-first ethos.

Experience in events, first aid, logistics, or fundraising is a bonus but absolutely not required.

Screening Requirements
- Enhanced DBS (for volunteers supporting youth events or sensitive community activities)
- Two references
- Volunteer agreement
- Completion of safeguarding and induction training
Time Commitment
- Flexible and based on your availability.
- Typical involvement: 3–6 hours per event or ad-hoc volunteering at community activities.
- No minimum hours are required, you choose when and how often you help.
